10/17/23 – Opposed the Ventura County Board of Supervisor’s PLA for a Santa Paula Fire House.
10/04/23 – Requested Veto on AB 1256, AB 1385, AB 1679 and SB 335 – Bills that allow for higher local transactions and use tax rate to be levied.
09/26/23 – Opposed AB 1167 - Oil and gas acquisition: bonding requirements.
09/23/23 – Joined with CalTax to Oppose AB 1256, AB 1385, AB 1679, SB 335, & SB 862, higher local transactions and use tax rate.
09/12/23 – Opposed Ventura Unified School Districts move to redirect $14M in rebates from $38M in Solar Panel purchases using taxpayer approved Measure E School Bond back to their General Fund.
09/11/23 – Opposed Ventura City Planning Commission’s recommendation to change General Industrial zoning to "Light/Flex" zoning.
09/11/23 – Supported the Ventura County’s settlement regarding the 2040 general plan agreement on contested language about oil and gas production. The lawsuit had already reached $3M in spending and was settled out of court.
09/07/23 – Opposed the proposed increase in the Quimby Fee and the introduction of a new Park Impact Fee Program by the Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD).
08/24/23 – Joined the Ventura Chamber of Commerce to Oppose SB 674, bill that would Require Refineries to Pay for Other Companies’ Fence Line Monitoring.
08/23/23 – Opposed Oxnard School Districts push to adopt a PLA for the Freemont Project.
08/23/23 – Joined the California Business Roundtable and the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association to Oppose ACA 13 which would fundamentally change the initiative process by increasing the voter threshold to pass limits on taxes and fees for measures put on the ballot by signature gathering.
08/21/23 – Opposed California SB 525 which would raise the minimum wage for all health care workers to $25/hr. We believe that the bill's approach to addressing wage concerns for health care workers could have unintended negative consequences.
08/08/23 – Joined with the Ventura County Chamber of Commerce & VC CoLAB to argue for the use of FHSZ maps as guides for development, not deterrents, suggesting new developments can serve as protective buffers for existing communities.
08/01/23 – Joined California Taxpayers Association in Opposing ACA 1 which would allow local governments to increase taxes (e.g., parcel taxes, transactions and use taxes, sales and use taxes, Mello-Roos taxes) with a 55 percent vote of the electorate – instead of the two-thirds vote currently required under the California Constitution.
07/19/23 – Joined VC CoLAB to Oppose SJR 2, a bill would endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.
07/07/23 – Advocated on behalf of Nyeland Promise to get a taxpayer funded park open to the 1,000+ children while cancelling the special tax for the property owners.
06/20/23 – Requested the County of Ventura to reject the Ventura County Medical Systems Budget and Request a ‘Balanced Resubmission’.
05/16/23 – Supported the successful RFP process regarding County trash hauler services. E.J. Harrison & Sons, Inc. and Athens Services, Inc. for their successful proposals and being chosen as potential providers for the solid waste collection services.
05/12/23 – Joined CalChamber in Opposing AB9 a bill that would require statewide greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced to at least 55% below the 1990 level by December 31, 2030.
05/08/23 – Opposed the Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) (regarded as a Project Labor Agreement), by and Between Ventura Unified School District and the Tri Counties Building and Construction Trades Council.
05/02/23 – Endorsed the pending Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act, a proposed state-wide ballot initiative led by Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
04/19/23 – Joined Western States Petroleum Association, CalChamber, & the State Building and Construction Trades Council to Oppose SB 556 would make the owners or board members of a legal company operating within the strict laws of the State of California and the United States of America strictly liable for the health problems of residents that reside in the communities surrounding these facilities.
04/18/23 – Opposed the City of Oxnard’s move to proactively oppose the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act before the citizens would have an opportunity to vote on it.
03/28/23 – Supported Supervisor Jeff Gorell’s efforts to terminate local campaign finance ordinance and adopting AB 571 is increased transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
03/24/23 – Alerted the Ventura County Board of Supervisors regarding Ventura County Medical System (VCMS) lack of transparency on the unrestricted advance from the county's General Fund.
03/09/23 – Joined CalChamber to Oppose SBX1 2 (Sinner) – Energy: Transportation Fuels: Supply and Pricing: Maximum gross gasoline refining margin.
01/10/23 – Joined the CalChamber Coalition to ask CAL FIRE to temporarily pause the SRA public comment period and conduct it simultaneously with the Local Responsibility Area (LRA) mapping process to better inform the regulatory outcome that CAL FIRE and the public hopes to achieve a best outcome.
